• All UK applicants are required to be full members of the Scout Association.

  • As such they will need to complete:

  • An Adult Appointment Form

  • A short DSSF supplementary form

  • A Criminal Records Bureau form or date and number of a CRB done through the Association. Other CRBs are not acceptable in Scouting.

  • A passport-sized photograph, personally signed on the back

  • All these forms can be requested using the "Contact Us" form

• Subscriptions are payable annually

  • HQ subs. may be paid through the DSSF, a local group/district or county, or they may be paid by one of the same for warranted leaders.

  • Subscriptions cover personal & third party insurance on any approved Scouting activities, a HQ Annual Membership Card and bi-monthly copies of Scouting magazine.

  • DSSF subs. should be paid by April 1st, direct to the treasurer or by Standing Order.

  • Members receive four copies of Scouts in Ships each year and are encouraged to join in any of our advertised camps or activities.

• Overseas Friends will need:

  • To be members of their home Scouting Association

  • To complete a full DSSF supplementary form, Please request via the "Contact Us" form

  • Referee details to check clearance for working with young people

  • A passport-sized photograph, personally signed on the back

  • DSSF subscription fee, which is payable annually by April 1st, direct to the treasurer or by Standing Order

• All Members receive the following, on joining:

  • A DSSF Scarf, Scarf & District Badges, "Serving" or "Ordinary" name tapes & A membership card which lasts for 5 years.
